On December 22, 2023, the 186th Youth Academic Salon of CBEIS was held in the Zhouyiqing Suite of Yuquan Campus, Zhejiang University. A presentation on the topic of Fast, High-Resolution, Quantitative Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging was given by Chenxi Hu.

Dr. Hu is an associate professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He earned his Master's degree in Applied Mathematics and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Auburn University in the United States. Then, he served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University from 2015 to 2019. His research encompasses the study and development of magnetic resonance sequences, image reconstruction algorithms, image processing algorithms, and the development and application of artificial intelligence methods.

Dr. Hu started by presenting an overview of mainstream cardiac imaging techniques and their challenges in the future. While demonstrating the research interests of his group, ranging from robust cardiac imaging, fast & high-resolution cardiac imaging, as well as coronary artery imaging and 3D reconstruction, Dr. Hu highlighted technological breakthroughs in RDIR black-blood myocardial T2-weighted imaging, 3D LGE imaging with improved robustness against arrhythmia, cardiac cine imaging, joint suppression of banding and flow artifacts in non-phase-cycled Balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) cine imaging, high spatial resolution cardiac magnetic resonance quantitative imaging, and multilayer multi-mapping technology. Referring to state-of-the-art technological advancements in the field, Dr. Hu concluded the current situation and proposed his own expectations of the future of cardiac MRI.

During the Q&A session, the students were highly engaged and had a lively discussion around the research accomplishments of Dr Hu, proposing unique opinions from their own perspective and research interests.
