The 159th Youth Academic Salon of CBEIS was held both on and offline as scheduled on the afternoon of September 30, 2022. Ms. Lin Hui, PhD student of CBEIS, brought a special report on the topic of Framework Design and Theoretical Analysis of Digital Behavior Intervention.
Ms. Lin Hui is pursuing her PhD degree at CBEIS, and her research interest has been placed on the digital Non-Communicable Disease (NCDs) management and lifestyle intervention, including (1) Designing standardized framework of lifestyle intervention for patients with NCDs (2) Digital NCDs management system design and implementation evaluation based on RE-AIM framework. (3) User behavior data analysis. Ms. Lin has published 2 review articles on SCI Journals.
Poor eating habits and lack of exercise are two big risk factors for NCDs, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, and obesity. Lifestyle intervention including promoting exercise, increasing daily activity and improving diet can significantly benefit people with NCDs.
For this problem, multi-strategy lifestyle intervention has been proven to be an effective public health approach that can promote patients to develop healthy eating habits and participate in physical exercises. With the development of Internet, digital lifestyle intervention has attracted more attention because of its high information transmission efficiency and low labor cost.
In order to promote digital intervention efficiency, Ms. Lin Hui proposed that a standardized knowledge system for behavior change strategies should be constructed. Combined with context of chronic disease lifestyle management, she explained how to combine Health Behavior Change theory with the Behavior Change Technique Taxonomy to design a digital standard framework for implementing lifestyle interventions.
In the end, Ms. Lin had a heated discussion with the students, and answered questions from the students. The 159th Youth Academic Salon have ended successfully.
