Recently, the New Microfluidic Modular Integration Microfluidic Synthesis System for PET Molecular Imaging Probes developed by Professor Zhang Hong, CBEIS, ZJU, won gold medal in the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, which is one of the world’s top three exhibitions of inventions.

Molecular imaging is crucial to improving cure rate and prognosis of major human diseases. Prof. Zhang Hong with his team spent 12 years focusing on the key issue of synthesizing the PET molecular imaging probes. He led a multidisciplinary team from related departments of Zhejiang University to jointly tackle the key problems and creatively proposed a new concept of Microfluidic Synthesis System for Molecular Imaging Probes. The technology and system for synthesizing PET molecular imaging probes in complex microenvironment has been developed. It realized the rapid and personalized fabrication of ultra-micro molecular imaging probes as well as producing different molecular imaging probes on one a multi-functional system.

The team has developed two generations of Microfluidic Modular Integration Microfluidic Synthesis System for PET Molecular Imaging Probes with fully independent intellectual property rights. This not only expanded the clinical application of PET in personalized precision medicine, but also plays an important part supporting the research and development of new pharmaceuticals. These achievements have strategic significance for seizing the commanding heights of scientific research in this field.
