The 124th Youth Academic Salon of CBEIS was held on the afternoon of December 11, 2020. Dr. Ran Xingchen from Prof. Zhang Shaomin’s research group, CBEIS, Zhejiang University gave the report.

Dr. Ran Xingchen’s research interest is in decoding the brain-computer interface of speech signals. From September 2019 to August 2020, Dr. Ran conducted a one-year joint training program in the laboratory of Professor Blaise Yvert at University of Grenoble, France, through the CSC National Public Student Program. In collaboration with the Affiliated Hospital of University of Grenoble, Prof. Yvert and his team built a fully developed BCI platform. In this one-year joint training, Dr. Ran Xingchen mainly participated in the decoding project of offline speech brain-computer interface.

In the meeting, Dr. Ran introduced the conditions and processes to participate in the joint programs and shared his experience. He gave a detailed explanation of his project, such as the ways to preprocess the synchronous ECoG neural signals and voice signals, and building suitable network models for continuously decoding neural signals, and so on.

Finally, Dr. Ran shared his life and study experience in France. The meeting was concluded successfully.
