【Publisher】:生物医学工程与仪器科学学院【Time】:2020-12-01 【Frequency】:85

On the afternoon of November 27th, 2020, the 122nd CBEIS Youth Academic Salon was held. The Salon was given by Ms. Liu Haote, a PhD candidate of CBEIS supervised by Prof. Tian Jingkui.

Between Novemver 2018 and September 2020, Ms. Liu conducted a nearly two-year joint training program at the Schepens Eye Research Institute (SERI) of Harvard Medical School (HMS). In the past two years, she has gained a comprehensive understanding of CRISPR gene editing technology, learned to construct CRIS-Cas or DCas vectors, and successfully established several gene knockout cell lines. Also, she found that PI3KD plays a crucial role in the formation of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). The effects of p110d on EMT and EndoMT during the formation of PVR and PDR were investigated, and the key role of p110d in the novel circular pathway of TGF-β2-induced PVR formation was verified.

Ms. Han Introduced her works at SERI.

In the salon, Ms. Han mainly shared her life, scientific research experience, and inspiration in the United States during the joint training program. At the beginning of the report, Ms. Han attracted everyone's attention with a lot of wonderful photos of activities during her studies at HMS. She introduced her study and life in the United States from the four aspects including food, clothing, housing and transportation, which made all the students envy and enchanted.

Then, Ms. Han introduced the work of his team, including CRISPR gene editing technology and the role of PI3KD in the formation of proliferative vitreoretinopathy etc.

In the end, Ms. Han gave detailed answers to the students' questions, and the salon concluded successfully.
