On the afternoon of December 4th, 2020, the 123rd CBEIS Youth Academic Salon was held. The Salon was given by Ms. Liu Jiaqi, a PhD candidate of CBEIS Supervised by Prof. Xia Ling. Her research interest during her doctoral period is on the generation of myocardial cell action alternation under ischemia.
Ms. Liu Gave Talks at CBEIS Youth Academic Salon
Between October 2019 and October 2020, Ms. Liu had a one-year joint training program in the Natalia’s Lab of Johns Hopkins University sponsored by CSC. The studies of Natalia’s Lab focus mainly on the simulation modeling of various pathological conditions. Meanwhile, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Natalia’s Lab is able to build personalized models for patients and make recommendations for treatment. During the one-year joint training, Ms. Liu mainly participated in the trial fibrillation simulation project.
In the salon, Ms. Liu briefly introduced the steps of establishing personalized 3D heart model for patients with atrial fibrillation. Then, Ms. Liu talked about her studies and lives at John’s Hopkins University. In the question-asking session, Ms. Liu discussed with a PhD student who also worked on electrophysiology of cardiac cells about the feasibility of using simulation software and the source of simulation models.
Finally, the salon was successfully concluded with the applause of the present students.
