Zhejiang University's National Laboratory for Biosensors is a professional laboratory funded by the World Bank's "Key Discipline Development Project" loan, established in 1991. It mainly researches and develops sensors and detection technologies in the biomedical field, taking into account sensors and detection technologies in other related industries.

The laboratory builds on the discipline of biomedical engineering, and aims to detect biochemical substances and physiological parameters in biology, medicine, food, and environmental applications, and studies novel biochemical sensors, MEMS, biochips and microelectronics that combine semiconductor and microelectronics technologies. On the basis of long-term teaching and scientific research, we has formed our own characteristics, not only from the development of the sensor itself, but also from the perspective of the system as a whole to study sensor technology and its information processing: combining functional materials, microelectronics and other disciplines, we research and develop miniature and ultra-micro sensors, array sensors and smart sensors from the perspective of the overall information to obtain information that is difficult to obtain by traditional methods. At the same time, information processing technologies such as pattern recognition and artificial neural networks are used to carry out deep processing of multidimensional information in order to deeply understand the research. The nature of the object promotes the further development of the sensor. Specific research direction:

1. Intelligent biomedical sensor technology research.

2. Cellular physiology research of ultra-micro sensors.

3. Research and development of biochemical sensors and detection systems for biology, medicine, environment and food.
